Overall, the Z+F IMAGER 5010C stands out for its speed, precision, and integrated imaging capabilities, making it a reliable tool for professionals requiring high-quality 3D data acquisition.
Zoller + Fröhlich, Germany, presented the Z+F IMAGER 5010C, one of the fastest terrestrial 3D laser scanners, at Intergeo 2012 in Hanover, Germany. The device includes a fully integrated HDR camera (i-Cam), a low-noise CMOS colour camera, integrated into the rotor, well-protected against environmental influences. In order to achieve a perfect image quality, even under difficult lighting conditions, the camera provides full HDR
panoramic images of up to 80 Mpixel per scan.
One focus is to always provide realistic panoramas. At each position, several images with different exposure times are taken (bracketing). The HDR image is generated from an exposure series, and therefore more lifelike than a single recorded image with only one
exposure time.
While scanning the user only selects the Z+F i-Cam. No further adjustments have to be made.
The scans are colourised within the software Z+F LaserControl. A special HDR method has been developed for the Z+F i-Cam. With method yields a high dynamic-range-image directly from the input images. To colourise one panoramic laserscan, 42 HDR images are generated and stitched to a complete HDR panorama. HDR image processing and colour mapping to laserscans are performed fully automatically for the entire project in batch processing.
The Z+F IMAGER 5010C is one of the most reliable and stable 3D laser scanners on the market. In addition to its high accuracy, the surveying system is characterized by its HDR camera, which captures high-resolution and parallax-free color data.
HDR offers a solution to display homogenous colour information.
Therefore serveral pictures of the same scene are taken with different exposure times, including intentional underexposed and overexposed pictures, in order to capture every contrast area correctly. Even those areas which would be underexposed are captured. After this process all pictures are merged into one high dynamic range picture, displaying an ideal result. HDR is not a new technology, but Z+F is the first manufacturer to integrate this capturing technique into a 3D laser scanner.
Z+F Imager 5010C 3D Laser Scanner benefits
Integrated calibrated camera
Best balanced colour imagery through
Z+F High Dynamic Range Technology
80 Mpixel full panorama generation
Extreme high speed laser sensor
Total eyesafety guaranteed by laser class 1
IP 53 conformity: dust & water resistant
The HDR picture is being generated in the Z+F Laser Control software and combined with the point cloud automatically. Compared to the manual method, Z+F’s HDR procedure does not require any previous knowledge in the field of photography, e.g. about aperture and exposure time, and allows a simple and quick 3D documentation of the surrounding area.
The integrated CMOS color camera is enormously low in noise. The lens is optimally tuned to the camera to produce high-quality images, even in the most challenging lighting conditions. With a maximum measurement rate of 1,016,027 pixels/sec, the Z+F IMAGER 5010C is one of the fastest 3D laser scanners on the market. Due to the wavelength, the device has a nominal range of 187 m. This range allows to use the scanner efficiently in almost all terrestrial applications.
