The Sokkia SRX3 3″ Reflectorless Robotic Total Station is a versatile, capable tool that comes in 1”, 2”, 3” and 5” models. The angle accuracy is per ISO17123-3 and uses an absolute encoder scanning device with diametrical detection on both circles. Sokkia calls it the ”Enhanced Encoder with IACS Technology”. Robotically it turns tighter horizon closures than my own eyes can, and a lot faster, too. It has dual axis compensation using a ”liquid” tilt sensor that has a working range of +/- 4 minutes.
For distances it uses a ”modulated laser, phase comparison method with red laser diode”. You can use it prismless, with auto-tracking prisms, reflective sheet tar-gets, or plain old vanilla prisms. Pay strict attention to your prism offsets if you mix and match, though! It will shoot prismless from 0.3 to 500 meters to a 90% reflective surface. Accuracy is 3mm+2ppm up to 200M, 5mm+10ppm from 200M up to 350M, and 10mm+10ppm from 350M up to 500M. With reflective sheet targets your range is 1.3 to 500M. - On-Demand Remote Control System: The System comprises the prism-side RC-Controller, a data collector and an RC-Detector in the SRX handle. As the RC-Controller projects a vertical laser fan beam, the SRX rotates horizontally until it perceives the fan beam to initiate Auto-Pointing
- Completely Cable-Free: The RC-Controller incorporates a license-free Class 1 Bluetooth modem that enables fully wireless communication for up to 300m (980ft.) between the SRX, RC-Controller and data collector.
- Fast Search and Lock: Simply press a key on the prism-side data collector. Using a built-in directional sensor, the RC-Controller detects the direction in which the prism is moving, and commands the SRX to rotate in the shortest direction to the prism. The combination of a laser fan beam, directional sensor and 360° prism dramatically reduces the time to acquire prism lock.
- Focus on Where You’re Going: With SRX, you can smoothly continue measurement even if buildings, trees or passing traffic interrupt the line of sight. Even the roughest terrain poses no problem for SRX. Just pay attention to your footing and SRX will do the rest. If prism lock should be lost, press the measurement key and the RC-Controller automatically calls the SRX and it recovers the target lock without missing a beat.
- False Sighting Recovery: If SRX gets caught sighting another reflective object, the on-demand remote control system quickly returns it to the prism. Recovery and measurement are accomplished at the push of a button.
- Dramatically Improve Setting-Out Efficiency:
- Using SRX Auto-Tracking, directions and distances are graphically and numerically displayed on the prism-side data collector for real-time point navigation.
- Speed up operation using the Guide Light for rough lateral positioning. Setting-out efficiency can also be improved using the SRX Auto-Pointing function.

On-Demand Remote Control System

The RC-PR3 unit is equipped with a directional sensor to ensure that SRX always rotates in the shortest direction, dramatically speeding up one-touch target acquisition.
Quick Start!
Simply press the measurement key and SRX will rotate toward the prism and immediately start measurement. SRX is available in both full robotic and upgradeable auto-pointing configurations.

Rechargeable Li-ion Battery
The battery box is located for easy-access to make battery replacement efforless. SRX comes with two rechargeable large capacity Li-Ion batteries as standard.
Jog Dials / Trigger Key
Jog dials have a comfortable finger fit and change instrument rotation speed according to how fast the dials are turned. A handy trigger key lets you take a measurement without taking your eye from the telescope. The jog dials include additional customizable settings for individual applications.
Color Display / Illuminated Keyboard
SRX features a color LCD touch panel display. The display has high angle visibility and subtle contrast for maximum visibility.
